
Fixing Those Annoying Heat Spots in Your KHS Blow Molding Lines
Ever notice your PET bottles coming out with weird wall thickness? Some spots are thin, others are thick, and you’ve got structural weak points that just shouldn’t be there. Usually, it comes down to one thing: your preforms aren’t heating evenly. If the infrared (IR) lamps aren’t hitting the plastic just right—or if they’re positioned poorly in the oven—you’re going to have a bad time.
The trick to getting the heat right
We didn’t want to just make another lamp. We wanted to fix the gaps we kept seeing in the standard OEM setups. So, we messed around with the tungsten filament density and the quartz glass itself. Why? Because that’s how you control the shortwave and medium-wave IR emissions. It sounds technical, but all it really means is that the heat actually soaks into the PET material consistently, from top to bottom. The real killer is “cold spots” at the ends of the lamp. Nobody wants those. We fixed this by tightening the filament spring and centering everything perfectly. Now, the wattage is spread across the whole tube, not just in the middle.
No headaches during installation
These are drop-in replacements. That’s the whole point. We use a high-grade quartz glass that can handle the stress of heating up and cooling down rapidly without cracking. Whether your machine uses R7s or Sk15 connectors, they fit snug. No loose connections, no voltage drops. Simple. We’ve got a few different voltage and wattage options to match whatever transformers you’re already running. Just a heads-up: if you go with a high-wattage tube to get more heat density, just double-check that your oven’s ventilation can keep up. You don’t want to cook your internal wiring.
